The Strings of Love: Voluntary Teaching Assistants Recruitment

Are you passionate about music and eager to make a positive impact on young students' lives? 

The Strings of Love is a six-month education programme for children and teenagers from underprivileged or low-income families to gain self-confidence while learning violin and nurturing their interest in the arts. The project also collaborates with young local semi-professional musicians to create a series of original Art Mentor compositions music videos for the programme. By learning new and unique music repertoires, opportunity and possibility are created for the student to perform and to break self-limit at a young stage, and thus empowering self-esteem and confidence after the completion of the programme. The project believes an individual’s talent can be aroused through an encouraging and less competitive environment, and the music is not exclusively for celebrated virtuoso, yet “everyone can perform”. Moreover, the learning is structured in the form of violin ensemble, it is envisioned the students will not only obtain personal breakthroughs but also meeting new people of diverse background to practice teamwork and social learning.

We are now seeking teaching assistants to join The Strings of Love team. If you have a love for music, enjoy working with children, this is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a unique educational experience.

Program Details:
Dates: Every Wednesday, until 5th October 2024
Time: 7-8pm
Location: Sham Shui Po

Your Role as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist the music teacher in working with small groups of children or with individual students during the class
  • Assist in monitoring lesson and practice progress
  • Demonstrate and play string instruments
  • Take roll calls for children who attended
  • Ensure children are staying within the classroom area
  • Take pictures and videos of the classes
